Where is the hotel and convention venue?
The 2018 Convention will be held at Sheraton Grand Mirage. This is located at Port Douglas Road, Port Douglas, Queensland, 4877, Australia.
How do I get from the airport to the hotel and vice versa?
Airport transfers are being organised for those arriving during the designated times. If traveling outside these times you may wish to consider catching one of the regular shuttle buses or a taxi. The trip from Cairns to Port Douglas is approximately an hour along a stunning coastal road.
When do we check-in and check-out?
Check in is 3pm and check out is 11am.
Is Breakfast included?
Breakfast is included in the full convention packages for those staying at Sheraton Grand Mirage. Additional charges may apply for additional adults/children who are not registered for the whole convention. Please refer to your personalised itinerary.
Breakfast will be served in the hotel's Feast Restaurant. (This applies for all pre-registered delegates with breakfast included). You will be required to provide your name and room number when arriving at any of these venue for breakfast so as the hotel can check if yours have been paid in advance or not. If you elect to have breakfast in your room (as room service), this will be considered a room incidental and charged as such to your room account for you to settle direct with the hotel (regardless whether you have prepaid or not for breakfast). If you experience any concerns or confusion over this process throughout your stay, please speak to a gener8 team member (rather than a Sheraton staff member) and we will be able to assist.
Check In Process
If you are staying at the hotel, you will be requested to provide your credit card as a form of security during your stay. As your accommodation and breakfast (if selected at time of registering or registering a full delegate/spouse) has already been paid in full to gener8 you will only be charged for any further incidentals that you have incurred throughout your stay and charged to your room (eg. Mini bar, in room dining, laundry, valet parking, movies etc).
Check out Process
You can elect to do an express checkout by completing a form the night before your departure, or alternatively just checkout at reception. If you experience any discrepancies with your hotel bill upon departure that cannot be resolved immediately with the hotel, please visit a gener8 team member at the information desk so that we can assist.
On Sunday please check out before doing any of the optional tours.
Does the Sheraton Grand Mirage have smoking rooms?
The Sheraton complex is a fully non-smoking properties. Designated outside smoking areas are available.
Not staying at the hotel?
You will be responsible for making your own transfer arrangements to and from events. Please ensure you allow sufficient times when making your arrangements.
What transfers are required during the weekend?
All evening functions are offsite. Please meet in the hotel foyer at the designated time.
What meals are provided during the convention?
All delegates on a full conference package are entitled to the following meals:
- THURSDAY - afternoon tea, canape dinner.
- FRIDAY - Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, BBQ dinner.
- SATURDAY - Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner.
- SUNDAY - Breakfast
For full paying delegates that have selected free time on the Friday and Saturday, you have been catered for throughout the Friday and Saturday business sessions. Check with gener8 at the information desk on break times and locations so that you don’t miss out on catering.
Where do I go for the first function?
Glade Pavilion for afternoon tea on Thursday.
What do we wear (dress codes)?
For the business sessions, smart business attire is recommended.
For the welcome function on Thursday night and Networking Dinner on Friday night the dress code is smart casual. The venue is outside so you may wish to bring a jacket.
The Saturday 'Gala Awards dinner' is formal (preferably black tie).
The Sunday optional excursions are casual.
Partners are casual, and we recommend you pack a light jacket as some activities are outside. If staying at the hotel (Sheraton) you may wish to pack bathers and gym gear so as to take advantage of the lagoon pool and gym facilities onsite.
When do we get some free time?
The business sessions will conclude mid afternoon on both Friday and Saturday, providing you with some time to enjoy the resort itself. Any other free time available is usually directly before a dinner event so is allocated to getting ready for dinner. We recommend you extend your stay to explore the Far North Queensland region.
What is the weather forecast whilst in Port Douglas?
Winter in Far North Queensland is generally sunny and dry with average temperatures between 19.5 - 26.5°C. Water temperatures are still high enough to swim (25.2°C) and it is generally less rainy than the summer months.

Is there a Junior Program in 2019?
There is not a designated Junior Program in 2019. You are welcome to bring children but their care is at your own arrangements and costs. They are welcome to attend the Networking Event on Friday night and the optional Sunday tours (charges apply). Please contact the hotel for information about baby sitting.
