Partners attending this year’s Convention can look forward to a truly unique Queensland experience on the Friday. Sweet Farm is nestled in the Whyanbeel Valley on the edge of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, about 20 minute's drive north of Port Douglas. After a spot of locally produced morning tea you will explore Sweets Farm with Farmer Gerard, the farms 4th generation farmer himself. In addition to tasting some Fresh Sugarcane Juice, Australian Origin Chocolate and Australian Molasses you will also discover a range of alternative products made from Sugarcane and Cocoa. The tour will also delve into the production of vanilla (incl explaining why it is so expensive to buy!) and show you a Koala food tree plantation.
Lunch will then be enjoyed on a timber deck area which overlooks the sparkling Whyanbeel River. A tranquil relaxed setting, accompanied by the continuous sounds of rainforest birds and nature which is on the restaurants doorstep.
After lunch it will be time to head to Port Douglas’s hidden gem - Jimmy Rum’s Mixing Lounge in Macrossan Street for a cocktail/mocktail dessert. Yes Jimmy’s offer a Dessert Choc shot which is served in a dark, milk or white chocolate edible shot glass supplied by a local chocolate maker. (alternatively you can choose a more “standard” cocktail from their list of over 50 drinks.)The day will conclude with free time to explore Macrossan Street or a short 5 minute bus trip back to the hotel for some R&R by the pool.
On Saturday you will be able to enjoy all the facilities on offer at Sheraton Grand Port Douglas and participate in some of the more general business sessions. These sessions will include a range of topics that will be relevant to all. Stay tuned for more information!
